New teachers often draw upon thier own experiences as learners, and those experiences become the default mode for what is presumed "normal" or "expected" in the regular classroom. Students today bring a wide range of ethnic backgrounds, languages, religions, sexual orientations, learning styles, and intelligences. We have to teach to student strengths. A successful teacher today, need to become a student of the student.
Teaching a new class and being a new teacher has been rewarding and challenging. It would enhance my cirriculum for the next school year to attend the training workshops to bring the latest to my upcoming classes.

A student of the student. I like that. I agree with you that we can learn so much from today's generation, especially when it comes to technology. I also feel that utilizing technology is one of the best ways to differentiate instruction and be better able to teach to the various student strengths. Thanks for your post.
